    Banking Operations - Position Description

    Position Summary

    Under general supervision, performs a variety of back-office functions necessary to support the branch system and other departments within the organization. Functions include general accounting and reconciliation, signature verification, research, file maintenance and verification, certifications, and operational compliance.

    The position interfaces with internal and external customers as well as outside agencies and organizations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of banking operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • ACH processing and returns.
    • Process adjustments and encoding errors.
    • Process activity on controlled accounts.
    • Reconcile RITS and perform official check balancing.
    • Process customer telephone transfers.
    • Prepare daily and monthly telephone transfer reports.
    • Process IRS backup withholding, year-end tax reporting, annual state escheatment, and dormant accounts.
    • Process EARNS of large checks being returned and chargebacks.
    • Input daily Treasury rates.
    • Process Lockbox deposits.
    • Perform large-item review of checks valued at $5,000 and over.
    • Prepare and review non-posted item reports.
    • Perform department callbacks and report reviews.
    • Support Online Banking and Cash Management Services.
    • Process corrections for items processing.
    • Order branch cash and reconcile the bank's cash vaults.
    • Process stop payments.
    • Perform name and account maintenance.
    • Set up armored courier services.
    • Process Credit Ratings and Verification of Deposit (VOD) requests.
    • Perform department callbacks and report reviews.
    • Process IRA accounts and related transactions.
    • Review Regulation CC holds.
    • Process dormant account reactivations and reporting.
    • Complete General Ledger (GL) certifications.
    • Process levies and subpoenas.
    • Prepare and review NSF reporting.
    • Manage and resolve customer complaints.

    Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and receiving information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
    • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve customer concerns and provide error resolution as needed.
    • Open and maintain retirement accounts and process retirement transactions as required.
    • Adhere to bank policies and support management decisions and goals in a positive and professional manner.
    • Complete required training and remain accountable for compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws related to the position.
    • Maintain a good working knowledge of central operations functions, products, procedures, and compliance requirements.
    • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead and work with individuals and groups at all organizational levels.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond to inquiries and complaints effectively and in a timely manner.
    • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks while demonstrating strong time-management, organizational, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
