Job Title: Operational Technology (OT) Specialist
Location: Elkhart IN
Contract term: 6 months (with possible extension based on performance)

**Hybrid In Office (Tue Thu) required --But desired 5 days a week**

Job Summary
The Operational Technology (OT) technical services specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and security the company OT systems, primarily related to Intelligent Transportation Systems and Toll Collection Systems. This role serves as a technical bridge between IT and OT environments, supporting SCADA, PLC, and related industrial networking systems to ensure safe and highly available systems for the roadway. The ideal candidate combines hands-on industrial systems expertise with an understanding of cybersecurity best practices in critical infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain OT systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, DCS, RTUs, and industrial networking equipment (switches, firewalls, routers).
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for OT hardware, software and network issues across production/facility environments, minimizing downtime,
  • Support the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of OT network architecture, including segmentation between IT and OT networks (ex: Purdue Model implementation).
  • Implement and maintain OT cybersecurity controls, including patch management endpoint protection, network monitoring and access control for industrial systems.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and plant operations teams to align OT initiatives with business and safety objectives
  • Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery testing and documentation of OT assets, configurations and network diagrams
  • Support vulnerability assessments, risk analyses, and audits related to OT/ICS security compliance (ex: NIST, IEC 62443, NERC CIP where applicable)
  • Coordinate with vendors and OEMs for system upgrades, technical support and equipment lifecycle planning
  • Participate in incident response for OT-related security events or systems failures, including root cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical documentation and training materials for OT systems.
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support as needed for critical system issues
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards during all OT-related work.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-7 years of experience supporting industrial control systems, SCADA, PLCs, or similar OT environments
  • Experience with OT network architecture, segmentation, and security best practices
  • Understanding of IT networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in real-time industrial environments
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and network diagrams
  • Prior experience in transportation, manufacturing, utilities, oil and gas, water/wastewater, or similar critical infrastructure sectors
  • Combination of office, control room, and tool road facilities
  • May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with site safety policies.
  • Occasional travel between Company facilities may be required.
  • Ability to respond to on-call emergencies outside standard business hours.
