Registered Nurse - Operating Room (East Campus)
Full-Time | 40 Hours | Rotating Shifts
### About the East Campus OR
The East Campus includes 20 operating rooms supporting Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, Robotics, Oncology, Orthopedics (joint replacement, sports medicine, oncology), Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastic Surgery, and Interventional Pulmonology. The unit provides day and evening coverage Monday-Friday, with on call support during nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts include 8, 10, and 12 hour options.
### What Youll Do
- Provide direct perioperative nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients and families.
- Use clinical judgment to identify patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes throughout the surgical experience.
- Coordinate patient care and guide assistive personnel to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely workflows.
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with patients and families through clear and compassionate communication.
- Advocate for patients and support their understanding of procedures, care plans, and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the broader care team to meet patient needs and support positive outcomes.
- Maintain required annual education, including emergency skills and unit based competencies.
- Identify opportunities for professional growth and participate in development activities with educators and clinical specialists.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that strengthen patient safety and care delivery.
- Demonstrate accountability for your practice and uphold the values and goals of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
### What Youll Bring
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN strongly preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse license.
- 1-3 years related experience (at least one year of OR nursing experience).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

Utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional registered nurse and provides direct nursing care to patients and families.

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
- License Registered Nurse required.
- 1-3 years related work experience required.
- American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate.
- Must have at least one year OR Nursing experience.
- Basic familiarity with computers.
- Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise.

- Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
- Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
- Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
- Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
- Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Age based Competencies: Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups:
- Neonatal: Birth to 6 months

Physical Nature of the Job:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.
Pay Range: $38.00 - $98.19
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
