Division: Within the Maintenance Department at ELMHS, located in Jackson, LA
The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric care are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana
ELMHS is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join the team in the Maintenance Department as an Operating Engineer 1 or 2! The selected candidate will be responsible for the running and maintenance of the ELMHS Boiler room.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
In this role, you will:
Be responsible for the proper operation, regulating, monitoring, servicing, and maintaining the ELMHS Boiling Room with two 500 horse-powered natural gas powered.
Maintain and operate Boiler Room equipment by regulating water level, adjusting air flow, adding chemicals (after testing), starting and stopping the pumps.
Make repairs on all electrical and mechanical equipment in the Boiler Room and performs preventative maintenance involving: repairing, greasing, oiling, changing filters and belts, and painting and cleaning.
Maintain all logbooks which detail the operation of boilers and list all maintenance performed.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Operating Engineer 1 or 2 depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant.
