Position Summary
Coordinate, plan, supervise, and participate in the maintenance activities, construction projects and operations of the Open Space Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. Oversee restoration, construction, continued maintenance and projects of Open Space properties; coordinate open space activities with other divisions and outside agencies; ensure work quality and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to higher level management staff.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in biology, geology, or forestry range management; and
Four (4) years park or land management; and
To include two (2) years supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a New Mexico Public Pesticide Applicator License 3A and 3B within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of an Arborist Certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
Working Conditions
Environmental:
Field environment and office setting; travel from site to site; exposure to inclement weather conditions; outdoor forested and rangeland areas; exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment and chemicals
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting, etc.
