Position Summary

Whitworth Universitys School of Health Sciences invites applications for two full-time, nine-month nursing faculty positions at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor. Whitworth seeks to build a complementary faculty team, with a preference for one appointment bringing substantial experience in nursing education and a second appointment open to candidates at any rank. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to help launch and shape Whitworths new prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, welcoming its inaugural cohort in fall 2027.

Faculty will teach general nursing and medical-surgical nursing content across classroom, skills and simulation laboratory, and clinical settings; mentor students in developing clinical judgment and professional nursing identity; and contribute to an innovative nursing program grounded in Whitworths Christian mission of educating the mind and heart.

As foundational members of a developing program, faculty will collaborate with program leadership to develop curriculum, strengthen clinical partnerships, integrate simulation-based learning, and establish a culture of teaching excellence. We seek collaborative, creative educators who are passionate about preparing future nurses and contributing to a Christian academic community where faith, learning, and professional practice intersect.

Academic rank will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and Whitworth Universitys faculty appointment standards. Candidates at all three ranks are encouraged to apply.

Core Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate nursing courses across didactic, skills/simulation lab, and clinical components of the prelicensure BSN curriculum, with medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Design and deliver course content, learning activities, and assessments aligned with program learning outcomes
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to competency-based nursing education, including competency-based assessment and progression
  • Supervise and evaluate students in clinical and simulation settings, providing timely, constructive feedback on clinical judgment and skill development
  • Collaborate with program faculty and the Program Director on curriculum development, course sequencing, and continuous quality improvement
  • Participate in program assessment activities and accreditation-related documentation (CCNE and Washington State Board of Nursing)
  • Advise and mentor nursing students in academic and professional development
  • Maintain current knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practice and evidence-based nursing education pedagogy
  • Participate in program, school, and university committees and governance as assigned
  • Support and contribute to Whitworths mission and its integration of Christian faith and learning
  • Engage in ongoing professional development consistent with university and program expectations
