    Position Summary

    The University of Georgia announces an opening for a tenure track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC; www.ccrc.uga.edu) in the area of plant and/or microbial glycoscience. We seek outstanding scientists whose research complements or expands our existing strengths in the CCRC and fosters a team science atmosphere that can benefit from our cutting-edge NMR, Mass Spectrometry, Computational, and Structural Biology infrastructure. Successful candidates will have access to a robust graduate student training program (partially supported by an NIH training grant in Glycoscience), highly motivated undergraduate trainees, and the opportunity to participate in education at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and will be expected to build or maintain a vibrant, extramurally-funded research program that leverages the highly collaborative research environment at the CCRC and UGA.

    The CCRC is home to the DOE Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrates, the NSF-funded BioF-GREAT BioFoundry, the Network for Advanced NMR (NAN), and the NIH-funded T32 Glycoscience Training Program. The CCRC also plays a leading role in the DOE-funded Center for Bioenergy Innovation (CBI) and is the home of GLYGEN, GLYCAM, and the leadership for the 5th edition of Essentials of Glycobiology. The above are national resources for the study of complex carbohydrates from plants, microbes, and animals and the successful candidate will be expected to utilize and expand such resources through collaborative research efforts.

    Additional Requirements

    Applicants must have at least two years of postdoctoral or relevant research experience, an outstanding publication record and a well-developed research plan.

    At the Assistant level, applications will be considered from talented and accomplished investigators who currently maintain or exhibit potential for developing vigorous research programs. Applicants at

    Associate or Full rank should have a record of high productivity, consistent extramural funding, and evidence of international recognition.
