Job Description

The Onsite Search Specialist will support AutoZone's ecommerce product discovery experience across the B2C digital channels. This role is responsible for helping customers find the right products online by improving onsite search, browsing, filtering, product recommendations, and related discovery experiences. The role combines data analysis, experimentation, and practical auto parts knowledge to identify where customers struggle, test improvements, and support continuous optimization of the digital shopping journey.
The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and eager to learn how customers shop for auto parts online. They should be comfortable working with search and ecommerce performance data, partnering with Product, Merchandising, Catalog, SEO, UX, Analytics, and Technology teams, and using customer behavior to improve product findability, fitment confidence, add-to-cart activity, conversion, and revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing optimization of AutoZone's digital product discovery experience, including onsite search, browse navigation, filters, product recommendations, and shelf/search results pages.
  • Analyze weekly search, lookup, product engagement, null result, add-to-cart, conversion, and customer journey data to identify opportunities to improve product findability and shopping confidence.
  • Review customer search behavior to understand how DIY and professional customers look for products, including part numbers, product types, symptoms, vehicle-specific searches, attributes, brands, seasonal needs, and job-based shopping intent.
  • Monitor search performance trends and escalate issues or opportunities that may impact customer experience, product visibility, or ecommerce sales.
  • Help execute a test-and-learn approach to improving product discovery.
  • Support A/B tests, rule changes, synonym updates, ranking adjustments, filter improvements, and other search or browse optimizations.
  • Document hypotheses, changes made, expected outcomes, and results to help the team understand what is working and what should be improved.
  • Partner with Product, Analytics, UX, and Technology teams to evaluate experiment results and recommend next steps.
  • Use auto parts knowledge to improve search relevance and customer confidence.
  • Apply automotive and parts-category understanding to evaluate whether search results, filters, product groupings, and recommendations make sense for customer intent.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fitment-aware discovery, product titles, attributes, synonyms, category mappings, and related product logic.
  • Partner with Catalog and Merchandising teams to surface data gaps that may affect search performance, product visibility, filtering, or customer confidence.
  • Support digital merchandising execution.
  • Assist with updates that help surface the right products at the right time, including seasonal priorities, promotional categories, new products, high-intent searches, and customer need-based experiences.
  • Coordinate with Merchandising and Product teams to understand category goals while ensuring changes are grounded in customer behavior and measurable business impact.
  • Help maintain clear documentation of searchandising changes, rules, synonyms, and optimization decisions.
  • Contribute to cross-functional communication and reporting.
  • Prepare concise updates on search and discovery performance, including wins, risks, test results, and recommended actions.
  • Translate data findings into clear, business-friendly insights for Product, Merchandising, Catalog, SEO, Analytics, and Technology partners.
  • Support a continuous improvement operating model focused on conversion, add-to-cart rate, product engagement, null result reduction, revenue per visit, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in ecommerce, digital merchandising, site search, product discovery, SEO, analytics, catalog, retail, or a related digital role.
  • Foundational knowledge of automotive parts, vehicle fitment, or aftermarket retail preferred; willingness to build deeper auto parts expertise required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns, diagnose issues, and recommend practical next steps.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, ecommerce reporting tools, search analytics, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, including Excel functions, filtering, sorting, basic formulas, and data cleanup.
  • Interest in experimentation, A/B testing, customer behavior analysis, and continuous optimization.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product, Merchandising, Catalog, SEO, UX, Analytics, and Technology teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when reviewing search terms, product data, category logic, synonyms, filters, and customer-facing product experiences.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain insights in a simple, business-friendly way.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Ecommerce, Analytics, Information Systems, Automotive Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
