    Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) – La Jolla, CA

     

    A healthcare organization is seeking a compassionate and experienced Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care for patients receiving infusion therapies and cancer treatments in an outpatient setting. This opportunity is ideal for nursing professionals who are passionate about patient education, oncology care, and delivering exceptional treatment experiences.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform patient assessments before, during, and after infusion treatments

    • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other prescribed infusion therapies

    • Monitor patients for treatment responses and adverse reactions

    • Initiate and maintain intravenous access and central venous devices as appropriate

    • Educate patients and family members regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, and symptom management

    • Document patient care activities accurately and thoroughly

    • Follow infection prevention and medication safety protocols

    • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care

    • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients throughout treatment

    • Promote quality improvement initiatives and patient safety standards

    Qualifications

    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure

    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

    • Oncology chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification required

    • Previous experience administering chemotherapy and infusion therapies required

    • Oncology nursing experience preferred

    • Strong IV therapy and vascular access skills preferred

    • Excellent communication, assessment, and critical-thinking abilities

    • Ability to provide compassionate care in a fast-paced clinical environment
