What Youll Do
- Provide expert nursing care to patients with hematology, medical oncology, and bone marrow transplant needs
- Perform bedside procedures including CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
- Administer medication via barcode medication administration systems
- Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Use Epic EHR for documentation and care tracking
- Support patients and families through education and emotional support
What You Need
Required:- Active RN license in Louisiana or eligible for reciprocity
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Previous experience in oncology, hematology, or critical care
Preferred:- Experience with Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), GYN, Surgical Oncology units
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health records
About the Assignment
You will join a specialized oncology unit that supports patients undergoing treatments such as bone marrow transplants and acute leukemia care. The unit maintains a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, and float coverage is required. First-time travelers are welcome. The team commits to a supportive environment with continuous training and comprehensive resources needed for excellent patient outcomes. Expect to work in a positive-pressure, 7-bed unit equipped with advanced IV pumps, barcode medication systems, and bedside monitoring tools.
