Position Overview

The Oncology Data Specialist plays a critical role in supporting cancer care outcomes by ensuring accurate and complete cancer registry data. This position is responsible for analyzing, abstracting, and coding oncology-related patient information, as well as supporting cancer program reporting and accreditation efforts.

The position is primarily remote, but requires the individual to live locally. There is an onsite requirement to provide support for conference meetings and attend team meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Abstract, code, and maintain accurate cancer registry data from medical records
  • Capture demographic, diagnostic, treatment, and staging information for oncology cases
  • Prepare and support tumor board conferences, ensuring required pathology and radiology materials are available
  • Partner with the Oncology Data Center leadership to deliver data analysis that supports Commission on Cancer accreditation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • 2+ years of cancer registry experience and ODS certification, OR
  • 1+ year of oncology-related experience, Associate's degree, and ODS certification, OR
  • Bachelor's degree with ODS certification

Position Details

  • Location: St. Joseph's Main & Children's Hospital
  • Schedule: Full-time, Days (no weekends or on-call)
  • Work Model: Hybrid
