    TITLE                                 OIM Student Mentor

    PAY RATE                          $15/hour              


    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Mentors for OIM will play an integral role in supporting faculty and students each semester. The focus of this leadership role is peer support for learning and integration with the Babson Community. Mentors will assist with developing students’ professionalism skills and navigating communication between students, company partners, and faculty. Mentors will encourage students to utilize campus resources such as our Resource Librarians, Writing Center, and Speech Centers. They will also aid in the technical aspects of the course they are assigned to.

    These mentors are expected to build productive relationships with their mentees and foster professional connections with faculty members and the OIM division coordinator. With their current knowledge and experience, mentors will serve as a visible and positive influence for the students in their sections.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO


    Support current students and teams


    Coaching on interactions with company partners


    Encourage professionalism and communication


    Assist with problem-solving conflicts


    Communication between faculty and students when needed


    Help to identify resources for individuals and project groups


    Aid in the creation of an environment that embodies relationship building, professionalism, problem-solving, and timely, respectful communication. Utilize campus resources and uphold Babson's core values.


    Assume additional responsibilities as required.

     


    YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE

    Mentors report to Nathaniel Trotman, Division Coordinator of OIM, and their respective faculty members. This position reports under the Operations and Information Management Division. Mentors will also establish collaborative relationships with Professors Kathy Dean, Clare Gillan, Ruth Gilleran, G. Shankar, Dan Rice, and Sal Parise.


    WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED


    Successful completion of OIM 2000 during the most recent year and received a strong grade in the course.


    Ability to direct students to different campus services as needed (Math, Writing and Speech Resource Center, Resource Librarian, Health Services, CAPS, etc.)


    Ability to communicate between faculty and students when necessary.


    Ability to provide appropriate guidance to peers through active listening and open-ended questioning.


    Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher at the time of applying and throughout employment.


    Able to commit up to 45 hours of student support during the semester


    Is available during their assigned class and able to attend fifteen hands-on sessions.


    Is comfortable mentoring the hands-on use of digital technology
