The Ohio Attorney General''s Office is currently seeking a public minded individual for a Quality Assurance Specialist position in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section within the OHLEG Unit. This position will primarily be designated for remote working and will require approximately 50% travel. There may be in person requirements for training and operational needs. The headquarter location is Richfield, OH, with opportunities to work from home.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, houses the state's official crime lab and identification services serving all of Ohio, as well as the criminal justice community. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request. With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to law enforcement agencies' needs.

Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service. This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance to law enforcement, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting-edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases. Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts staff BCI's three main divisions: 1) Identification 2) Investigations and 3) Laboratory.

The successful candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate within 90 days to one of the following counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Medina, Portage, Summit, Trumbull and Wayne.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Audits and evaluates use of OHLEG system by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA's):

• Schedules and performs on-site reviews with LEA's and Courts.
• Prepares finding reports and provides to agency.
• Conducts compliance reviews for LEA's and Court triennially.
• Provides training to LEA's and Courts when requested.
• Attends and/or organizes county wide meetings of LEA's, courts, judges and prosecutors to aid in communication between agencies and BCI.
• Maintains updated contact information for all agencies.
• Provides day-to-day communication and problem solving to LEA's and Courts.

Supports and Audits agencies using the OHLEG System;

• Provides day-to-day communication and problem solving with OHLEG Agencies.
• Schedules and conducts on-site audits of OHLEG agencies determined to need them.
• Reviews compliance and adherence to policies and procedures recommended by BCI and AGO (e.g., analyzes operations, reviews quality control methods; recommends improvements; validates records).
• Prepares audit report and develops methods and techniques to resolve a variety of auditing problems.
• Reviews reports to determine if agency is operating in accordance with state and federal statutes regarding OHLEG rules and regulations and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and notifies agencies of issues at time of audit.
• Monitors previous audit reports and provisions of standard audit plans.
• Provides training for all new OHLEG agencies and on-site retraining for agencies requesting it or are determined to need additional training.
• Maintains updated contact information for all OHLEG agencies in the file.
