Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $20.92 per hour.

Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position will be to handle all inmate related property matters. This will include; at a minimum, intake and inventory upon arrival to the facility, process of all new property acquired, disposition of property to be disposed of, hobby craft orders, database/file entries for accurate accountability, and response to requests by inmates related to these matters. The property clerk will also provide support to the warehouse officer as needed.

How does it get done?

• Provide direct support to Supervisor
• Maintain confidential personnel records, inventory control, purchasing requests and facility training logs
• Receive and disseminate correspondence as required
• Meet deadlines and up with work flow on a daily basis
• Communicate through email and by phone
• Archive facility files
• Assist with scheduling interviews as well as training newer support staff
• Maintain daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports

Ideal Candidate

Experience in the following:

• Clerical work
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Inventory control
• Records keeping
• Maintaining confidential records/information

Minimum Qualification

No prior experience or training required.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Drivers License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
