Office Manager | $22.50/hour
Part-time | 4-5 hours 5 days a week
A Sioux City area Lutheran church is seeking a reliable, organized, and personable Part-Time Office Manager to be the heart of their daily operations and a welcoming presence to all who walk through our doors. The Office Manager plays a vital role in the life of their congregation. This position manages the day-to-day administrative tasks of the church, supports the Pastor and ministry teams, and serves as the primary point of contact for members, visitors, and community partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically proficient, and possesses a heart for Christian service.
Responsibilities:
Hospitality & Communication: Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and respond to emails with warmth and professionalism. Manage church correspondence and route requests to the Pastor or council leaders.
Worship Support: Prepare, format, and print weekly worship bulletins, insert announcements, and coordinate digital slides for Sunday services.
Communications & Media: Update the church website, manage the monthly newsletter, and handle occasional updates to social media.
Records & Database Management: Maintain accurate parish registers (baptisms, weddings, funerals, memberships) and update the church management database (e.g., Church Community Builder, Shepherd’s Staff, Breeze).
Office Operations: Order office and kitchen supplies, manage incoming/outgoing mail, maintain files, and coordinate scheduling for church facility rentals and meetings.
Financial Administration: Assist with bookkeeping, tracking weekly offerings, or preparing invoices for payment.
Requirements:
Experience: 2+ years of experience in an office administrative role (experience working in a church, non-profit, or volunteer-heavy environment is highly preferred).
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Publisher, Excel) and email platforms. Familiarity with basic graphic design tools (like Canva) or church management software is a plus.
Core Competencies: Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Interpersonal Skills: A compassionate, patient, and welcoming demeanor. Ability to handle sensitive pastoral matters with strict confidentiality and discretion.
