Care Happens Long Before Treatment Begins

Some of the most important people in cancer care never deliver radiation treatment.

They're the people who make sure patients know where to go, what comes next, and that someone is looking out for them every step of the way.

That's what makes this role different.

As the Office Coordinator for Radiation Therapy at PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center, you'll be at the center of the patient experience. You'll help patients navigate appointments, authorizations, testing, records, questions, and next steps during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

This isn't the kind of office job where you sit quietly behind a desk all day.

It's active. It's people-focused. It's meaningful.

And no two days look exactly the same.

What Your Day Actually Feels Like

You arrive in the morning and help prepare the department for the day ahead.

Soon afterward, patients begin arriving for consultations and follow-up visits. You'll greet them, register them, help room them, start educational videos, and make sure they feel welcomed and supported from the moment they walk through the door.

Throughout the day, you'll move between patient care coordination and the behind-the-scenes work that helps keep treatment moving forward.

You might:

  • Welcome and register patients arriving for appointments
  • Help room patients and prepare them for their visit
  • Start educational videos that help patients better understand their treatment journey
  • Work directly with clinicians to coordinate ancillary testing and next steps in care
  • Escort patients throughout the clinic and help them navigate appointments
  • Monitor the waiting area and assist patients and families when questions arise
  • Answer incoming calls and connect patients with the appropriate resources
  • Obtain medical records and coordinate information with outside clinics
  • Schedule appointments and manage clinic workflows
  • Coordinate referrals and insurance requirements
  • Work through prior authorizations that help remove barriers to care

One of the most important aspects of this role is helping patients move through the healthcare system successfully.

Insurance authorizations are a significant part of the position. Previous experience with prior authorization, insurance verification, registration, referrals, or payer coordination is highly valued. If you've worked in healthcare operations and understand how critical authorization work can be to preventing delays in care, you'll recognize just how important this role is.

This is also a highly interruptive environment.

You may be assisting a patient at the front desk, answering a phone call, coordinating an authorization, obtaining records, and helping a clinician all within the same hour.

The people who thrive here enjoy that variety. They're organized, adaptable, and genuinely enjoy helping others.
