Job Responsibilities
Provides administrative support by answering phones, managing attorney calendars, scheduling meetings and court appearances, taking meeting notes, researching legal issues and policies, and assisting with caseload organization.
Supports attorneys and law enforcement by analyzing documents and evidence and assisting in the investigation and prosecution of South Carolina department of corrections (SCDC) and South Carolina state grand jury cases with an SCDC nexus.
Maintains and organizes investigative and legal records by scanning, saving, filing, categorizing, and managing investigative, court, and other case-related documents to ensure accurate, timely access.
Assists with court and state grand jury proceedings by preparing prosecutors for hearings and trials, attending proceedings as authorized, preparing witnesses managing document production, organizing and handling evidence, and managing subpoenas.
Coordinates investigations and witness activities by assisting with witness interviews and preparation coordinating witness attendance, gathering evidence, preparing memoranda, and testifying when required.
Manages discovery and case files by maintaining control of investigative files and evidence, organizing case materials for trial, plea, state grand jury, and discovery purposes, and ensuring complete discovery is gathered, documented, and certified in assigned cases.
Travels throughout the state as necessary to conduct or coordinate discovery, assist with investigations, trials, and other court proceedings, and provide litigation support.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services or a bachelors degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services or a bachelors degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
Associate degree and three (3) years clerical, secretarial or administrative experience.
Knowledge of SCDC policies and operation.
Preferred Qualifications
Paralegal or office manager experience preferred.
