Responsibilities & Requirements:

Under the supervision of the provider and/or practice leader, the Office Assistant II provides direct administrative support for general department needs. This role is responsible for a variety of receptions and clerical functions. Responsibilities may include scheduling appointments, patient registration, insurance verification/authorization, and collecting co-payments. As well as general office operations support. The role requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks efficiently. Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of 1 year of customer service and/or administrative support experience, preferably in a medical or insurance setting. Experience working with medical terminology preferred.
Electronic Medical Records is an advantage, Epic is preferred
Insurance processing: verifications/authorizations preferred
Required Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,Excellent customer service and communication skills and possess a friendly demeanor and professional telephone etiquette and remain calm and reassuring when dealing with upset individuals.
Basic medical terminology and understanding of insurance (Medicare, Workers Compensation, private insurances).
Ability to follow directions, accept orders and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Competent in methods of filing and retrieval of information, both manual and electronic.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with patient confidentiality laws and regulations (HIPAA).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to change. Outlook).
