Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide clerical or direct support to the Career Development Centers (full-time and part-time staff) and its students. The expectation of this position is to communicate with internal and external entities; provide routine clerical support; and monitor the office area cleanliness and maintenance. Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalency.

Six (6) months office/clerical related experience.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.

Ability to organize activities and coordinate groups of people.

Ability to relate to a diverse student population, communicate with employers and faculty.

Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks.

Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict.

Ability to use a PC in an office setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field.

One year of clerical experience.

Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Career Development facilities and offices.

Job Duty

Oversee department budget, prepare budget reports and documents, and oversee department spending.

Answer the telephone, take messages, and make appointments for the department as appropriate.

Job Duty

Responsible for keeping the work-study students informed of any department updates, daily tasks, department events/ activities, and ensure coverage of the career facilities.

Job Duty

Exhibit excellent customer services skills, be familiar with all aspects of Del Mar College campus services and programs.

Job Duty

Collaborate with staff and faculty utilizing our center and services. Able to effectively communicate with employers and instruction of services.

Job Duty

Provide daily operation update to Career Development Coordinator.

Job Duty

Effectively represent the Career Development Department in various on and off campus groups including faculty, media, student population and/or the general public.

Job Duty

Other duties as assigned.
