Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Of Counsel Attorney to join a premier international law firm in Houston. This opportunity is designed for highly accomplished attorneys with substantial law firm experience who are looking to continue practicing at the highestlevel while serving sophisticated clients on complex legal matters.

The firm is interested in connecting with exceptional attorneys across a variety of practice areas who bring deep subject matter expertise, strong client service skills, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and high-performing legal platform.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on sophisticated legal matters within your area of expertise
• Lead and manage complex transactions, litigation matters, or regulatory matters
• Provide strategic legal counseling to clients and internal teams
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal teams when appropriate
• Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness
• Support business development and thought leadership initiatives as appropriate

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Significant law firm experience in a relevant practice area
• Demonstrated expertise in complex legal matters
• Strong academic credentials
• Excellent analytical, writing, negotiation, and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage sophisticated matters independently
• Strong client relationship and client service skills
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across practice groups
• Active bar admission in the applicable jurisdiction or ability to become admitted

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $435,000 – $485,000
• Compensation based on experience, qualifications, and other operational considerations
