Minimum 3 years of experience as an OD Grinder
Venteon is currently seeking an OD Grinder to fill an opening for a stable non-automotive manufacturing client in Rochester Hills.
Requirements of the OD Grinder
Experience with manual grinding tools and abrasive finishing equipment
Experience operating grinding machines (surface, cylindrical, or centerless)
Ability to read basic blueprints or work instructions and understand GD&T
Good hand eye coordination and manual dexterity
Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Strong attention to detail and quality
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills
Understanding of grinding wheel types, dressing, and coolant use
Ability to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks
Experience in precision machining, tool and die, aerospace, medical, precision machining environments or metal fabrication
Ability to perform full setups independently
Knowledge of hardened steels, carbide, and exotic materials
Familiarity with CNC grinders or automated grinding systems

Responsibilities of the OD Grinder
Performmanual grinding, deburring, polishing, and finishing on metal parts
Set up and operate surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, centerless grinders, or other grinding equipment
Use hand grinders, belt sanders, bench grinders, die grinders, and other abrasive tools
Interpret work instructions, blueprints, and basic GD&T symbols
Inspect parts for burrs, sharp edges, surface defects, and dimensional accuracy
Dress and true grinding wheels to maintain accuracy and surface finish
Monitor grinding operations and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and wheel wear
Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision tools
Load and secure workpieces, ensuring proper alignment and workholding
Maintain consistent surface finishes and meet tight tolerances
Blend radii, chamfers, and contours as required
Handle small precision components with care
Maintain grinding wheels, belts, and abrasive tools
