Description

Position Details

  • Position: Part-Time Occupational Therapist

  • Grade Levels: 3rd–5th Grade

  • Setting: Self-Contained Therapeutic Day School

  • Schedule: 1 Day Per Week

  • Weekly Hours: Part-Time, approximately 1 day per week

  • Setting: Onsite

  • Dates: September 1, 2026 – June 3, 2027

  • Caseload: Approximately 8 students on the assigned day

About the Caseload

This position serves students with severe to profound disabilities in a highly supportive therapeutic school environment.

Students may:

  • Have significant physical, developmental, and functional needs

  • Be non-verbal or minimally verbal

  • Utilize AAC systems to communicate

  • Require highly individualized therapeutic support

  • Benefit from occupational therapy services targeting functional participation and independence

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with students with low-incidence disabilities and have experience collaborating with teams supporting students who use AAC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services to students in grades 3–5

  • Support students with significant developmental, sensory, motor, and functional needs

  • Address skills related to fine motor development, sensory regulation, functional participation, and independence

  • Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers

  • Support students who utilize AAC and incorporate communication systems into functional activities when appropriate

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute OT recommendations and goals

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

  • Communicate effectively with school staff and multidisciplinary team members

Qualifications

  • Active Illinois IDFPR Occupational Therapy license required

  • Experience working with students with low-incidence or significant disabilities preferred

  • Familiarity with AAC and students who are non-verbal is strongly preferred

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Compassionate, patient, and student-centered approach

  • Experience in a therapeutic or special education setting is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of $48.00–$63.00 per hour
