    Position Summary

    Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our acute care team. The Occupational Therapist will evaluate and treat adult patients hospitalized with acute medical, surgical, neurological, cardiac, orthopedic, and critical care conditions. This role is essential in promoting safe participation in daily activities, improving functional outcomes, and supporting timely discharge planning.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations in an acute care setting
    • Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans addressing ADLs, mobility, cognition, safety, and functional independence
    • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case management, physical therapy, speech therapy, and interdisciplinary care teams
    • Provide patient and family education regarding functional status, safety, equipment needs, and discharge recommendations
    • Recommend adaptive equipment and assess need for post-acute services (home health, inpatient rehab, SNF, etc.)
    • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in the EMR
    • Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies, and infection control protocols

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
    • Current Occupational Therapist license in NJ
    • NBCOT certification required
    • Acute care experience preferred; new graduates with acute care fieldwork considered
    • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to assist patients with mobility and transfers
    • Standing, walking, bending, and lifting as required for patient care
