Occupational Therapist (OT) – Travel Assignment

Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: Cumming, GA 30041
Schedule: Days | 5x8-Hour Shifts | 40 Hours/Week
Shift Hours: Varying between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to join the Acute Care Therapy Department. The therapist will evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, helping them regain independence and improve functional mobility throughout their hospital stay.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans for acute care patients.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to patients with a variety of diagnoses, including:
    • Medical and surgical conditions
    • ICU/critical care patients
    • Stroke and neurological disorders
    • Orthopedic conditions
    • General debility and functional impairments
  • Assess activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, cognition, and functional performance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, adaptive techniques, and discharge recommendations.
  • Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress accurately using Cerner EMR.
  • Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Occupational Therapy experience in an acute care setting.
  • Active Georgia Occupational Therapist (OT) License.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
  • Experience treating a broad range of acute care patient populations, including ICU, neurological, orthopedic, and medical-surgical patients.

Assignment Requirements

  • No local candidates within 50 miles.
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks.
  • Holiday Requirement: 1 summer holiday.
  • EMR: Cerner.
