Position Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) provides skilled occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, and Home Health settings. The OTA supports patient progress by implementing treatment plans designed to improve independence, safety, and functional performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist

  • Provide therapeutic interventions focused on ADLs, fine motor skills, coordination, strength, and functional mobility

  • Observe and report patient responses, progress, and changes in condition to the supervising OT

  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic activities, safety techniques, and use of adaptive equipment

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Maintain a safe and organized treatment environment

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care

  • Comply with all federal, state, and facility regulations, including HIPAA

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current Occupational Therapist Assistant license in good standing (state-specific)
  • Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or home health preferred (new graduates welcome to apply)
  • Strong clinical, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
