    Position Summary

    A Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Chief Maintenance Engineer in the overall maintenance of the hotel's building and grounds and the operation of its equipment and mechanical/electrical systems. Additionally, this position is responsible for the overall safety and security of the hotel and its associates.

    Responsibilities

    • Resolving maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignments (e.g. painting, drywall, door adjustments, minor plumbing and electrical work, HVAC maintenance, etc.)
    • Assisting in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctioning property systems and equipment, including electrical/mechanical
    • Assisting in inspecting property to identify potential and current needs and acting on those needs
    • Performing preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis
    • Assisting in servicing the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals, vacuuming, and cleaning filters
    • Completing maintenance calendar
    • Completing hotel mattress rotation program
    • Maintaining and upkeep of the outside of the property (e.g. trash removal, maintenance of cigarette butt removal, cleaning of parking lot, leaf blowing, maintenance of flowerpots and boxes, etc.)
    • Maintaining the building exterior if not serviced by a contractor (e.g. snow removal, lawn care, painting, lights, etc.)
    • Maintenance of meeting room and assisting with set up/breakdown
    • Maintaining a passing score on the Quality Hospitality maintenance and security audit
    • Maintaining hotel brand service and product standards
    • Listening and responding to guests' requests and/or complaints
    • Coordinating and maintaining effective relations with other departments in the hotel to promote guest service

    Requirements

    • Prior maintenance experience is required - prior maintenance experience in a hospitality setting is preferred
    • Proven working experience and knowledge of proper maintenance processes, means, methods, and standards
    • Strong initiative and work ethic
    • Punctual, reliable, and regular attendance
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Customer-service oriented and excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, bend, twist, and reach frequently.
