Description

Title: Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician

Position Type: Contract

Location: California

Key Project Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining gas turbine power generation equipment (LM5000 preferred; LM6000 considered)
  • Ability to support both plant operations and maintenance activities in a small team environment
  • Experience with HRSG / steam generation systems and auxiliary equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems

Job Summary:

NAES is seeking an O&M Technician to support operations and maintenance activities at a simple cycle combustion turbine facility in Northern California. This role is part of a small team environment and will be responsible for both operating plant equipment and performing hands-on maintenance activities to support safe, reliable plant performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong multi-craft background with experience in gas turbine operations, mechanical and electrical systems, and basic instrumentation troubleshooting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate gas turbine generators and associated auxiliary systems in accordance with plant procedures
  • Perform plant startups, shutdowns, and routine operational monitoring
  • Conduct equipment rounds, record readings, and identify abnormal operating conditions
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic instrumentation systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems
  • Execute equipment switching, isolation, and tagging in accordance with safety procedures
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and maintenance records while supporting overall plant reliability

Job Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience in power generation or heavy industrial operations and maintenance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic instrumentation systems
  • Working knowledge of plant systems including turbines, pumps, valves, compressors, and water treatment systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small team environment
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including off-hours support as needed

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience in power generation or a similar industrial environment preferred

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $50-$55.
