Private family in Hudson Yards, Manhattan seeks an experienced, nurturing, and highly capable Nanny / Family Assistant to support their household and provide exceptional care for their newborn. This is a full-time, live-out opportunity for a seasoned private service professional who brings a calm, gentle presence, excellent judgment, and a thoughtful, health-conscious approach to childcare and household support. The ideal candidate is intuitive, adaptable, and naturally attuned to the rhythm of a busy family home, with the ability to anticipate needs and provide support with discretion and ease.
The role is approximately 60% nanny and 40% family assistant, with primary responsibility centered around the newborn while also assisting with household organization, errands, ordering and stocking, vendor coordination, pet support, and family projects. The household is supported by two Housekeepers, two Assistants, a driver, and a dog walker, and the successful candidate will work collaboratively within this team while remaining flexible as priorities evolve. Cooking is a welcome plus, though not required, and routine household laundry is not part of the position.
This is a Monday through Friday position, generally 9am to 6pm, with occasional weekend flexibility as needed. Domestic travel is required, including approximately one month in February and one week in New Jersey each August, with the possibility of additional travel in the future. Private accommodations are provided during travel.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for the newborn, supporting daily routines, feeding, soothing, sleep, outings, and age-appropriate development
- Anticipate the child’s needs and maintain a calm, organized, and nurturing environment while adapting to the family’s preferred routines and health-conscious household practices
- Manage family-assistant responsibilities including household ordering, stocking, errands, online research, and special projects as needed
- Maintain children’s toiletry kits, preferred snacks, and other frequently used items, including gluten-free selections as requested
- Coordinate with household vendors and maintenance providers on routine household matters and communicate effectively with the family’s Assistants and broader staff
- Assist with light cooking or simple meal preparation when helpful, based on candidate ability and household needs
- Provide support with the family’s small dog, including feeding, occasional sitting, and coordinating or assisting with pickups and pet-related errands as needed
- Support the family during domestic travel, helping maintain continuity of childcare, routines, organization, and day-to-day household needs while away
- Additional Nanny / Family Assistant responsibilities as needed and requested
Requirements:
- Strong command of the English language with excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluent in Farsi strongly preferred but not required
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers required
- A minimum of 8–10 years of private childcare experience strongly preferred, including significant hands-on newborn experience
- Kind, gentle, intuitive, and highly attuned to household dynamics, with the judgment to anticipate needs and adapt naturally to the family’s routines and preferences
- Health-conscious and comfortable working within a household that prioritizes non-toxic products, thoughtful wellness choices, and specific family preferences
- Highly organized, resourceful, and flexible with the ability to balance newborn care with family-assistant responsibilities and collaborate seamlessly with an established household team
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with online research, ordering, and light household coordination
- Farsi language skills are a plus, but not required
- Valid Passport and willingness to travel domestically as required; Valid Driver’s License strongly preferred, though driving is not a primary function of the role
- Comfortable assisting with the care of a small dog
- Able to legally work within the United States for any employer
Compensation: $115,000–$120,000 per annum
