Assists in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating of orientation, continuing education and in-service training for support staff and secretary positions within the Department of Nursing. Responsible for the management of orientation and training of support staff personnel through development and implementation of systems which monitor and track mandatory requirements for support staff and secretarial personnel in all nursing units and central areas. The Support staff Educator develops and provides computer education for nursing personnel. The Support staff Educator coordinates and provides orientation for the Health Education Interns each semester.
Responsibilities:The Support staff Educator provides education support to achieve the organizations mission of excellent patient care and nursings vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.
Qualifications:Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: AA or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree in Health Education preferred. BLS Instructor status and teaching experience preferred. Experienced in EKG interpretation desirable. Experience with computers and Microsoft applications such as WORD and PowerPoint.
Must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills and good technical writing skills. Must require minimum supervision and exercise sound judgment. Must be able to work independently and/or within a team-oriented environment using appropriate CQI tools. Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals in an environment where access to and control of confidential information is significant. Must be able to stand for extended periods while teaching, work independently and for extended periods of time at a computer. Staffing 16 hours per month in a unit clerk position will be expected.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position.
