Nursing Faculty - Full-Time Tenure Stream

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants for full-time tenure-stream faculty at the Assistant Associate or full Professor level. This tenure-stream faculty position will be responsible for teaching scholarship and service.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching and mentoring students in the classroom laboratory and/or clinical setting
  • Contributing to course and curriculum development, revision, and delivery utilizing best evidence in content and delivery
  • Supporting student learning, professional development, and readiness for practice
  • Expectations also include active, sustained, and impactful engagement in scholarship, including but not limited to: • Providing consultation to clinical institutions and/or research studies • Conducting educational and/or clinical projects • Serving as a reviewer for professional journals • Dissemination through publications and presentations
  • Faculty members are also expected to participate in service activities that support the school, university, profession, and community
  • Other duties may be assigned based on department needs

Faculty members receive dedicated time and resources to ensure they can successfully conduct their program of research, disseminate their research, and develop professionally. Faculty promotion opportunities are available for all ranks.

Qualifications

Qualifications for these tenure-stream faculty positions include:

  • An earned research doctorate (Ph.D.)
  • Completion of or currently in postdoctoral training
  • Can demonstrate potential for research productivity
  • Have a planned program of research that is in alignment with one or more of the research foci within the School of Nursing
  • The current research foci within the School of Nursing include: • Digital Health • Genomics • Cancer Survivorship • Aging and Gerontology • Sleep and Circadian Science • Health Services and Policy • Maternal/Perinatal and Reproductive Health • Nursing Education
  • Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Qualifications

Assistant Professor

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a field related to the research foci within the School of Nursing is required
  • Evidence of or potential for a sustained and impactful program of research
  • Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring and contributing to a learning environment that values inclusivity

Associate Professor

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a field related to the research foci within the School of Nursing is required
  • Evidence of a sustained and impactful program of research that is nationally recognized
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring and contributing to a learning environment that values inclusivity
  • Evidence of or potential for leadership in the field

Professor

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a field related to the research foci within the School of Nursing is required
  • Evidence of a sustained and impactful program of research that is internationally recognized
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring and contributing to a learning environment that values inclusivity
  • Evidence of leadership in the field
