Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director for Medical Surgical Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for designated patient care areas within a hospital setting.
This leadership role supports executive nursing leadership and is responsible for assisting in the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice across multiple units. The Nursing Director maintains 24/7 accountability for assigned departments while ensuring high-quality patient care, clinical excellence, staff competency, and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for assigned Medical Surgical units.
- Support organizational nursing strategies and quality initiatives.
- Assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practices.
- Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care delivery.
- Promote staff development, clinical competency, and nursing excellence.
- Monitor departmental performance and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Support staffing, budgeting, and resource management efforts.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.
- Serve as a professional role model and advocate for nursing excellence.
- Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements Education
Required:
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program and Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, or
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in a healthcare-related field
Experience
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting as:
- Nurse Manager
- Full-Time Charge Nurse
- Related clinical leadership role
Licensure & Certifications
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Current CPR Certification
- All required state licensure and professional credentials
