Job Purpose
The Nursing Clinical Coordinator role is to assist the Nurse Manager in achieving an environment of excellence in clinical quality, safety, and service. Supports the Vision, Values, and Strategic Plans of MHS. Functions as a staff nurse and/or relief charge nurse as needed on his/her assigned unit. Assumes a nursing leadership role as delegated by the Nurse Manager.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, American Heart Association
National certification in specialty area or will obtain within one year or minimal amount of time that requirements can be met
Work Experience:
3 years’ nursing work experience
Related Work Experience and Other Skills:
Coaching/mentoring skills.
Computer literate and knowledgeable of varied software, knowledge of general keyboarding principles, willing to learn more advanced computer skills.
Consistently follows the Standards of Behavior set by Methodist Health System.

Job Roles:
Consults and communicates with Nurse Manager.
Facilitates the co-ordination of unit-based strategies for Patient Experience initiatives.
Responsible and accountable for clinical quality of the unit through routine surveillance to include, but not be limited to: regulatory compliance readiness, documentation (charting) and clinical aspects review with problem identification and resolution.
Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of unit based education related to the Nursing Care Coordinator role (i.e. Core Measures, Hospital Acquired Conditions, clinical documentation, etc.).
Responsible for: day to day coaching and mentoring of the staff relative to the Nursing Care Coordinator role; being a role model; real-time feedback and counseling; and providing feedback to the Nurse Manager for annual staff appraisals.
