Position Summary

The Nursing Clinical Adjunct Instructor is responsible for supervising and evaluating nursing students in assigned clinical settings. This role supports student learning by facilitating the application of nursing theory to practice while ensuring a safe, supportive, and professional clinical learning environment.

Clinical adjunct instructors serve as front-line faculty representatives to students and clinical partners and play a critical role in student development, patient safety, and program outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise undergraduate nursing students in assigned clinical practice settings.
  • Facilitate student learning through clinical teaching, coaching, demonstration, and reflective debriefing.
  • Evaluate student clinical performance using established course and program outcomes.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and competency development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, attendance, and evaluations.
  • Ensure students adhere to clinical site policies, professional standards, and program requirements.
  • Promote patient safety and professional nursing practice at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with course faculty and the clinical coordinator regarding student progress, concerns, and clinical issues.
  • Report student performance concerns promptly and participate in student support or remediation processes as needed.
  • Attend required faculty meetings, clinical orientation sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Serve as a professional role model consistent with the values and mission of Taylor University.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Current, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Indiana.
  • Masters degree or higher academic degree preferred, Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Minimum of two years in nursing practice.
