    Description

    Provides basic nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Requires knowledge, technique, and skills to therapeutically meet the needs of assigned medical-surgical patients. Responsible for performing a variety of assigned tasks. Must be able to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide care appropriately.

    Job Specification

    • Minimum Education Required

    • A high school graduate or equivalent.

    • Minimum Experience Required

    • A minimum of 1 year experience with direct patient care preferred.

    • Licensure/Certification Required

    • Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program preferred.

    • Must be BLS certified required (or obtain within one month of hire).

    Skills

    • Must demonstrate commitment to service excellence and performance improvement.
    • Must demonstrate interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families and other members of the health care team.
    • Must possess the ability to utilize the hospital computer system.
    • Must work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide direct patient care and report patient changes to the Registered Nurse.
