    UPMC Hamot is hiring a part-time Nursing Assistant to join the team on 4 South Trauma!

    Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, transporting, turning, and repositioning patients.
    • Perform nursing assistant core duties, including vital signs, blood glucose testing, weights, intake and output monitoring, specimen collection, Foley care, telemetry application, and patient safety prevention measures.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment by completing safety checks, changing linens, cleaning equipment, and keeping hallways and patient rooms orderly.
    • Assist with patient transport, meal tray distribution, nourishments, water pitchers, and mail delivery.
    • Stock, order, distribute, and set up supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
    • Monitor patients, report changes in condition to the RN, and provide feedback regarding patient care.
    • Apply, monitor, and remove restraints per physician orders and hospital protocols; provide diversional activities to reduce restraint use.
    • Respond to call lights, telephones, emergent situations, and other unit support activities within scope of practice.
    • Provide one-on-one patient observation, companionship, and supervision as needed.
    • Complete documentation in the medical record and perform clerical duties as required.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members while demonstrating professionalism and respect.
    • Support a culture of safety, diversity, accountability, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
    • Report equipment malfunctions and ensure proper functioning of patient care equipment.
    • Participate in ongoing learning, skill development, performance improvement, and feedback processes.
    • Adhere to all hospital policies, patient confidentiality requirements, infection control standards, and safety procedures.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant training program.
    • Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA preferred. Work permit required if under 18 years of age.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR Basic Life Support (BLS OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPRCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
