Your Role as a Nursing Supervisor

The Nurse Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the nursing department ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents in compliance with current state and federal regulatory agencies.

  • Supervise the nursing staff and ensure all residents receive the highest quality of care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care plans are developed and implemented.
  • Conduct regular rounds to assess the quality of care being provided to residents.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards of practice.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing staff.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote safe and effective nursing care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to nursing staff.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss and evaluate resident care plans and progress.
  • Communicate in a positive manner with physicians, other healthcare team members, residents, families, visitors and vendors to ensure continuity of care, and provide emotional support and education to residents and families.
  • Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Responsible for creating a calm, supportive and caring environment for residents and staff.
  • Responsible for complying with all safety and sanitation procedures including universal precautions.
  • Responsible for attending in-service programs, educational workshops and meetings as required to maintain professional license and enhance professional growth,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • Must have a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse in Ohio
  • Must have a current CPR certification
  • At least 3 years of nursing experience preferable in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to nursing practice in a long-term care setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Compassionate and empathetic towards patients, families and other team members
  • Ability to remain calm and patient when resident is anxious, agitated, combative or displaying other types of distress
  • Must be in good general health and free of communicable diseases
  • Must have the visual acuity and manual dexterity to perform nursing procedures accurately and safely
  • Must have the ability to hear with or without use of prosthetics soft spoken words of residents, intercom and alarms
  • Must have the physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move intermittently throughout the shift, as well as the ability to climb and descend stairs, use elevator and assist residents
  • Must have the physical ability to lift and/or transfer residents, pulling/lifting up to 50lbs unassisted and up to 175lbs with assistance
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language
