1:1 School Registered Nurse (RN) – Hillside, IL

Exciting Opportunity with PediaStaff!

PediaStaff is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a school-based position in the Hillside, IL area. This RN will provide dedicated nursing support to an elementary-aged student with complex medical needs in a therapeutic special education setting.

Position Details

  • Pay: $50 per hour
  • Start Date: September 7, 2026
  • Hours: 32 hours per week
  • Schedule: Approximately 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
  • Population: Elementary School
  • Setting: Therapeutic Special Education
  • 1:1 student nursing support
  • May include riding school transportation with the student

Student Medical Needs

The student has complex medical needs including:

  • Ventilator support
  • Tracheostomy
  • G-tube feeding
  • Seizure disorder

Candidates should be comfortable providing hands-on nursing care and monitoring for a medically complex student throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Current and active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care strongly preferred
  • Experience with G-tube care and seizure monitoring preferred
  • Pediatric, private duty, 1:1, or school nursing experience preferred
  • Comfortable supporting students in a therapeutic special education environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day
  • Monitor respiratory status, ventilator, and tracheostomy needs
  • Provide G-tube care and monitor feedings as ordered
  • Monitor for seizure activity and follow the student's individualized medical and emergency plans
  • Administer medications and prescribed nursing treatments
  • Respond appropriately to changes in the student's medical condition
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and service logs
  • Collaborate with families, school staff, therapists, and healthcare providers
  • Support the student's health and safety during school transportation if required
