• Float Requirement: Float to public schools in Virginia as needed.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide private-duty nursing care to a middle school female student in Ashburn, VA, in both homecare and public school classroom settings.

The position is initially 40 hours per week, with approximately 4 hours per week of direct care provided to the student. The hours of care provided to the student will gradually increase over time.

When the nurse is not caring for the student in the home, the nurse will be assigned to another school to provide nursing support. Over time, the position will transition to full-time care for the student.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license - Required.

• Female RN requested by the parent due to the student's personal hygiene care needs.

• Seizure monitoring, seizure response, and administration of seizure rescue medication - Required.

• Ability to provide nursing care in homecare and public school settings.

• Willingness to float to other area schools when not providing direct student care.

• Ability to provide individualized nursing care and respond appropriately to student health needs.

Preferred Experience

• Inpatient pediatric psychiatric nursing experience.

• Experience managing autism-related behaviors.

• Experience identifying and managing PTSD triggers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized nursing care to a middle school female student in the home and school settings.

• Monitor seizure activity and respond appropriately to seizure episodes.

• Administer seizure rescue medication as required.

• Assist with the student's personal hygiene and healthcare needs.

• Support the student's medical and behavioral needs in the classroom.

• Float to area schools as a 1:1 substitute nurse or assist in the school health office when not assigned to the student.

• Collaborate with school staff, healthcare professionals, and Student Health Services.

• Accompany the student on school bus transportation once private school placement is secured.

Additional Requirements

• The student resides in Ashburn, VA.

• The position begins at 40 hours per week, with direct student-care hours increasing gradually.

• The role will eventually transition to full-time nursing care for the assigned student.

• School bus transportation duties will become required once private school placement is secured.

• The client will review resumes, conduct candidate interviews, and make the final hiring selection.

• If the assigned 1:1 nurse is unavailable, the client will be responsible for arranging a substitute, not the hiring agency.

• Student-specific training will be provided by Client Student Health Services.

• Start Date: As soon as the position is filled.
