️Shift: Night - 7PM - 7AM

 

The Nurse Resident (NR) has graduated from an accredited nursing program, passed the NCLEX and has provided
evidence of licensure to practice in the support of the transition from academic preparation to clinical practice. Under the
direct supervision and guidance of a registered nurse preceptor, the NR provides safe, evidence-based patient care while
progressively building clinical competence and confidence. Responsibilities may be tailored to meet the educational needs
of the residents as well as the requirements of the clinical specialty area.

Responsibilities:

Provides patient-centered nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, hospital policies, and the Florida Nurse Practice Act. The Nurse Resident works under the direction of the physician, nurse, or healthcare provider while developing clinical skills through the Nurse Residency Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides and documents direct patient care, including vital signs, personal care, dressing changes, blood draws, IV insertions, intake/output, and other assigned clinical procedures.
  • Assists patients with feeding, toileting, hydration, positioning, and ambulation.
  • Performs unit clerical duties, including answering phones, entering orders, responding to calls, and assisting with visitor access.
  • Provides age-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Delivers compassionate, individualized care and promotes a positive patient and family experience.
  • Follows established patient-safety practices, including medication administration, fall and pressure-injury prevention, infection control, patient identification, restraints, IV pumps, and clinical alarms.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and follows appropriate chain-of-command and ethics procedures when needed.
  • Actively participates in 100% of required Nurse Residency Program learning activities.
 
 
 
 
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s Degree required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida
  • BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required for all areas
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association required at hire or transfer for designated departments, including:
