The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.

Education
- Associate's Degree required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BSN must be obtained from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer for applicable new hires
- Employees hired/transferred between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017, follow the requirements outlined in their offer letter/job description
- Employees hired/transferred prior to August 1, 2013, are grandfathered
- BSN preferred

- Demonstrates teamwork and professional communication with members of the healthcare team
- Ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures related to patient care delivery
Licensure & Certifications
- Florida RN license or confirmation of eligibility for licensure upon receipt of SSN
- BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required on the first day of employment

Additional Certification Requirements
- Fellowship RNs: ACLS, PALS and NRP within 6 months when required by the department
- Psych Unit: CPI training within 90 days and annually thereafter
- Professional certification preferred
Experience
- Less than one year of related experience required
- One (1) year of clinical experience preferred
