Annual Salary: $79,036 + $2.50/hr. Shift Differential for evening, night, and weekend shifts

Sign-on Bonus: $7,500*

Schedule: Overnight, 11 pm to 7:30 am, with alternating weekends

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders at our Regional Crisis Stabilization Center (RCSC). This position plays an important role in supporting individuals during a behavioral health crisis and works closely with psychiatrists and an interdisciplinary treatment team.

The Psychiatric Care Nurse provides nursing assessments, medication management, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and medically based treatment services. The RN evaluates clients' physical and mental health needs, develops nursing plans of care, monitors responses to treatment, and coordinates medical services and referrals.

Requirements:

  • A valid RN License in good standing from the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • One year of behavioral health experience.

What You'll Do

  • Provide initial and ongoing assessments of clients' physical and mental health needs and develop appropriate nursing plans of care.
  • Monitor client status, treatment responses, medications, and medication management practices.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and treatment staff on medications, treatment planning, referrals, and changes in client condition.
  • Review referrals and provide assessment and recommendations for program acceptance and ongoing care.
  • Coordinate medical services, referrals, transportation, and medical appointments.
  • Serve as a nursing resource to staff by providing consultation and education on client medical needs.
  • Maintain accurate nursing and treatment documentation.
  • Provide supportive counseling, crisis intervention, and emergency services as needed.
  • Follow nursing standards, agency policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
