The Division of Neonatology at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary NICU team to improve outcomes and support patients and families at a Regional Perinatal Center.

Responsibilities:
Provide advanced clinical care to premature and critically ill newborns
Perform comprehensive physical assessments
Diagnose and manage neonatal conditions, including acute, chronic, and complex medical issues
Develop and implement individualized treatment and care plans based on clinical findings
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, imaging, and monitoring data
Administer and manage medications, therapies, and life‑support interventions
Collaborate with neonatologists, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
Manage discharge planning and follow-up care for high-risk infants
Educate and support families and caregivers, including explaining diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to regulatory and quality standards
Engage in quality improvement initiatives and education activities within the NICU
Participate in high-risk births, including neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
Conduct or assist with neonatal procedures including intubation, umbilical catheter placement, thoracentesis, chest tube placement, surfactant administration, PICC lines, lumbar puncture, and circumcision
Serve as a member of the Neonatal Transport Team providing air and ground transport
Qualifications:
License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Board certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support certification required
Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.
Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment
Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality at all times
