Responsibilities:

The Physician Assistant works collaboratively with the Neurosurgery physicians to provide comprehensive patient care across the inpatient, outpatient, and surgical settings. The PA is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, education, and ongoing management of neurosurgical patients while practicing within the scope of licensure and organizational policies. This position requires the ability to independently manage outpatient clinics, assist in surgical procedures, and provide continuity of care throughout the patient's treatment journey. Travel to outreach clinic locations is required.

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and developing differential diagnoses.
  • Develop, implement, and manage individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the neurosurgical team.
  • Maintain and independently manage outpatient neurosurgery clinics, evaluating both new and established patients while providing timely, evidence-based care within established protocols.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and surgical settings.
  • Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and other imaging as appropriate.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative patient care, including education, medication management, wound assessments, and follow-up care.
  • Perform hospital rounds and coordinate continuity of care for admitted patients.
  • Assist neurosurgeons during operative procedures and perform approved procedures within the Physician Assistant scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing staff, ancillary departments, and referring providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Document patient encounters, treatment plans, procedures, and clinical communications accurately and promptly within the electronic health record.
  • Maintain accurate surgical and clinical documentation while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Respond to patient questions, telephone encounters, prescription refill requests, and urgent clinical concerns in a timely manner.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, and departmental projects.
  • Support clinic efficiency and patient access by providing coverage for physician absences and traveling to outreach clinic locations as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of neurosurgical best practices, clinical guidelines, and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • NCCPA Board Certification or Board Eligible.
  • Current State Physician Assistant License (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Current DEA registration (or eligibility, if required).
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
  • Neurosurgery or Orthopedic Surgery experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel to off-site clinic locations.
  • Experience in a neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery or another surgical speciality
Min: USD $41.90/Hr. Max: USD $75.42/Hr. Salary Information: Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications. Benefits:
