Part Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Substance Use Treatment and Opioid Treatment Program

Schedule: 20 hours per week; early morning hours with some weekend coverage required
Compensation: $60–$95 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Tempo Group Counseling Services, a community-based nonprofit with more than 55 years of service to Long Island, seeks a part-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for our NYS OASAS-licensed 822 Comprehensive Outpatient Program. This position will primarily serve patients with substance use disorders in our Opioid Treatment Program (OTP).
The ideal candidate has experience in behavioral health, mental health, and substance use treatment, with a strong understanding of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including methadone. Join a multidisciplinary medical and clinical team providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
· Conduct medical evaluations and assess substance use, mental health, and related medical needs.
· Order and manage methadone treatment within the OTP, including initiation, dose adjustments, and ongoing monitoring, consistent with professional scope of practice and applicable requirements.
· Prescribe and manage other medications for substance use disorders, as appropriate.
· Monitor medication response, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, interactions, and patient safety.
· Provide medical coverage during early morning medication hours, including some weekend hours.
· Collaborate with the Medical Director, nursing staff, therapists, and other team members on treatment planning and coordination of care.
· Educate patients about medications, overdose prevention, and recovery.
· Maintain timely, accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
· Current New York State PA licensure and registration, or current New York State RN licensure and NP certification in an appropriate specialty.
· Current DEA registration with controlled substance authority appropriate to the position.
· Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, and substance use treatment is required.
· Strong knowledge of SUD treatment and MAT, including methadone treatment for opioid use disorder.
· Ability to practice within applicable New York State requirements, including physician supervision or collaboration, as required.
· Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
· Availability for 20 hours weekly, including early mornings and some weekend hours.
Preferred: Prior OTP experience and experience managing methadone treatment.
