Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Spine

Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons, each with a specific area of expertise. We offers a team approach to your care and provides a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on-site X-ray, on-site MRI, on-site physical therapy.

As Center for Bone & Joint Surgery continues to grow, we are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team. Ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in orthopedic care (experience preferred), is committed to long-term employment and is willing to travel to our Jupiter office and Delray Beach Office once per week. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, suturing wounds.
• Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
• Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
• Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains patient statistics.
• Educates patients and families as appropriate.
• Collaborates with physicians in managing the medical needs of patients.
• Participates in rounds at the hospital and responds to patient calls received after hours and on weekends.
• Consults with other staff as necessary.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION· ADN/BSN

KNOWLEDGE· Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan· Knowledge of how to assess a patient with chronic medical conditions / understanding of pathophysiology regarding disease process.· Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques that can be used to educate patients which encourages them to participate in their care.

ABILITIES· Ability to make responsible decisions within the Registered Nurse scope of practice & clinic protocols.· Ability to offer education materials about procedures they had done.· Ensure patient safety at all times.· Ability to have open communication with the providers· Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.

First call for patients during non-business hours, (on average 2 calls per week)

Conduct clinic 8-10 half days per week

Almost exclusively clinic work, be willing to see an occasional inpatient if necessary

No ER call
