Location: Bronx, NY
Salary: $160,000 per year

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join the clinical team in the Bronx.

The ideal candidate will have direct clinical experience in Infectious Disease and be comfortable evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with a broad range of infectious conditions.

This is a specialty-focused role for an NP with a strong Infectious Disease background who can work independently while collaborating closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with infectious diseases and related conditions.
  • Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory studies, cultures, diagnostic testing, and other clinical results.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including antimicrobial therapy, as clinically appropriate.
  • Monitor patients' response to treatment and modify treatment plans based on clinical findings and diagnostic results.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up and management of acute and chronic infectious conditions.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnosis, treatment, medication adherence, prevention, and risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Apply current standards and best practices related to infectious disease management and infection prevention.
  • Provide care to patients from diverse and underserved communities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with applicable clinical, regulatory, and FQHC standards.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license and national board certification.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field required.
  • FNP, ANP, or comparable NP certification.
  • Direct clinical experience in Infectious Disease required.
  • Strong knowledge of infectious disease diagnosis, treatment, and management.
  • Experience managing patients with complex infectious conditions.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with antimicrobial/medication management.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and infection-control practices.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with underserved, multicultural, or community health populations preferred.
  • FQHC or community health center experience preferred.
  • Experience working with patients affected by substance use disorders/addiction is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records.
