    Nurse Practitioner – VA Disability Evaluations

    About the Role

    The Judge Group is seeking licensed Nurse Practitioners to conduct VA disability evaluations for Veterans seeking service-connected benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

    In this role, providers perform medical record reviews, focused in-person examinations, and complete required documentation, including medical opinions when applicable. These evaluations are for disability determination purposes only and do not involve prescribing medications or providing treatment plans.

    Some documentation may be completed remotely following examinations. The focus of this role is to deliver a respectful, accurate, and professional evaluation experience for Veterans.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct VA disability examinations, including medical history review and focused physical assessments
    • Assess how medical conditions impact daily functioning and work capability
    • Review medical records, diagnostic results, and supporting documentation
    • Provide objective medical opinions when required, based on exam findings and record review
    • Accurately document exam results using the VA’s web-based system and submit reports within required timelines
    • Manage assigned caseload and collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure completeness and accuracy
    • Maintain compliance with VA program requirements, HIPAA regulations, and federal guidelines
    • Provide scheduling availability and manage workflow to meet turnaround expectations
    • Travel up to 10% to additional clinic locations, as needed

    Office / Facility Requirements

    • Ability to operate from or access a professional medical office or clinical space
    • Private exam rooms suitable for in-person medical evaluations
    • Office must ensure patient confidentiality
    • ADA-compliant facilities strongly preferred to support Veterans with disabilities

    Required Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
    • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license
    • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with clinical and QA teams
    • Strong computer skills and comfort with web-based documentation systems
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience performing VA disability examinations
    • Background in occupational medicine, disability evaluations, or assessment-focused roles
    • Experience working with Veteran or military populations

    Additional Requirements

    • Compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
    • Completion of required VA training and program updates
    • Authorization to work in the United States
