Lead and oversee daily operations of a high-acuity 16-bed Surgical-Trauma ICU (STICU) unit, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff of approximately 80 full time and part-time RN's, CNA's and Medical Unit Receptionists. Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accrediting bodies.
What We're Looking For:
Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
Graduate Degree, preferred.
Experience: Two years demonstrated leadership experience, preferred. Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care, ICU setting, preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. Board certification in area of practice, required.

What You'll Do:
Clinical & Patient Care Oversight
Ensure high-quality, evidence-based care for critically ill surgical and trauma patients
Monitor patient outcomes, safety metrics, and adherence to ICU protocols
Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams
Step in for complex clinical situations or escalation when needed
Oversee infection control, ventilator care, and trauma-specific interventions
Staff Leadership & Management
Recruit, hire, train, and retain ICU nursing staff
Create schedules and ensure adequate staffing ratios for acuity levels
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective action
Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment
Lead staff meetings, education sessions, and skills development
Operations & Administration
Manage unit budgets, supplies, and resource allocation
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission)
Develop and implement unit policies, procedures, and workflow improvements
Analyze data (length of stay, infection rates, mortality, etc.) to drive improvements
