A 221-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center in Sanford is seeking a Nurse Manager of Surgical Services to lead operations across its perioperative departments. This facility provides a wide range of advanced services, including open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, robotic surgery, orthopedic care, and spine programs.

Position Overview

This leadership role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Operating Room and supporting perioperative areas, including CVOR, anesthesia services, and sterile processing. The Nurse Manager oversees a multidisciplinary surgical team and ensures efficient coordination of staff, resources, and patient flow to support safe, high-quality surgical care.

A strong focus is placed on operational efficiency, staff development, physician collaboration, and maintaining high standards across clinical and support services.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the Operating Room and perioperative support departments
Lead and support a multidisciplinary team including RNs, surgical technologists, first assistants, schedulers, OR aides, anesthesia staff, and sterile processing technicians
Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes as needed
Promote strong working relationships with physicians, hospital leadership, and department partners
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements
Monitor supply usage, equipment needs, and resource allocation
Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts
Drive operational performance related to productivity, efficiency, and patient satisfaction
Collaborate with leadership to achieve departmental and organizational goals

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care Operating Room RN experience required
Minimum of 1 year of recent OR leadership experience in a charge nurse, coordinator, supervisor, or management role required
Registered Nurse (RN) license required (APRN also accepted)
Associate degree or Nursing diploma required
CNOR certification preferred
BLS required within 30 days of hire
ACLS required within 6 months of hire
PALS required within 6 months of hire
