A regional medical center in Overland Park is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Emergency Department to provide leadership for one of the region's busiest emergency service lines. This 340+ bed acute care hospital is Johnson County's only Level II Trauma Center and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The facility is also an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center with four emergency departments, including a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department and two freestanding emergency rooms, serving more than 45,000 patients each year.

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services and the Chief Nursing Officer, this leadership role is responsible for the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring exceptional patient care, efficient department performance, and a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

The Nurse Manager oversees staffing, workflow, and clinical operations while promoting safe, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include monitoring nursing practice, evaluating clinical performance, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. This position also mentors and develops nursing staff, promotes accountability for clinical outcomes, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care Emergency Department leadership experience within the past year

  • Charge Nurse experience in the Emergency Department will be considered; manager-level experience in a high-acuity setting is strongly preferred

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program

  • BSN preferred or currently enrolled with completion required within two years of hire

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or an active compact nursing license

  • ACLS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, and ENPC or PALS certification required within 90 days of hire
